The Progressive Theme borrows from a futuristic scenario to show how useful high-tech will be influencing silhouettes, shapes and graphic. As such, Louis Hendry Sullivan's "from follows function" will take on a whole new meaning. Cult comic figure Tank Girl, with her Lara Croft-inspired knowledge of the martial arts has now grown up. She is able to hold her own in a male-dominated, tech-fetish world that has a foreground of graphic elements. Sharp silhouettes and sculptural details are the forms she needs for protection. Crystallized, armor-like jewelry serves to extend parts of the body to form a fusion of steely high-tech pieces and organic forms. Fabrics themselves become ornamental and abstract. Shapes that are rounded, padded, molded, looped and puffy give her volume to make her feel feminine. "Fabric follows form" gurantees new synergies and couture elements will no longer be seperated from functional sports-tech wear.
